Valvetrain, what should i go with?
After consulting a few friends, i have decided that the next time i spend a couple bucks on my car, its getting a new valvetrain (2nd gen B16a head btw). Everyone is recommending i just go with a type R setup, but my question is: what kind of cams/rpms can a stock type R valvetrain really handle? With the setup i'm thinking about i dont plan on reving much past 9k, but i dont want to kill it if i bang 10 grand once in a while. Any suggestions? If i had the money, i would definatly go with a JUN, or Crower setup. I just dont want to go overkill and wast money. I'm thinking maybe just typeR cams, with titanium retainers....
sup,
the type r valvetrain will be more than enough. there's no reason for 10k if you're going to use type r cams; you'll be losing power if you do. for 9k, get type r springs, crower tit retainers(very light 6.0 grams @ $150 vs honda 11.5 grams), type r intake valves @ $125 and if that doesn't satisfy, replace the inner springs with portflow @80 to rev beyond 9k. Hope this helps you out.

The main thing to figure out is what cams but if you run toda a or b's or skunk 2 even CTR cams the best springs are Type R outers and Portflow inners rev to 9 grand all day long
