dont bother with valves or bronze(not brass) guides. basically a waste of money.

I would go with the JUN setup over the Skunk2

Vales can give quite a bit of an advantage. The Skunk2 valves in particular are flat bottom, instead of cupped like most other valves, and will raise your compression ratio. As well as better heat resistance. They are also lighter, for less unsprung weight in the valvetrain. All this stuff adds up. Go for the Skun2s.

When using SS vales, you should probably get the bronze guides. They have better wear characteristics. Though the skunk2 valves have that coating on them, so I'm not sure how much benefit you would see. But if you're going to do it, do it right. That's my philosophy. So pick them up as well, they'll cost you, what? $90 for both sides?

But yes, I would go with the JUN setup.

ONly problem is how God awful expensive the JUN cams are... Will i notice much gains below vtec? Or is most of the JUN cam's power above vtec? Yes, about $90 for both sides for valve guides.

This whole setup would cost me about $1700.

FEREA valves... they are great dissipating heat.... NOS....

forget who makes them, but... triple valve springs.... if you're gonna go, go all the way

if you look at a JUN cam, the regular and VTEC lobes are actually fairly similar in size (lift). The smaller lobe is really big still, and is able to provide good power fairly high in the rpm range, so thats why people often set very high VTEC x-over points with those cams.

JUNs are nothing but top-end. That's all you will see, but they make more top-end than anyother cam. So get the JUN 3s.

i have the same exact setup in my car jun 3 cams, jun springs, retainers, and skunk 2 valves. The power improvement is fairly significant. when i take the car to around 7500 rpm, its close to the same feeling as 8500+ stock. Seems to me that the setup added power to the whole rpm range, mostly midrange. Still have to get the car dynoed. As for the bronze valve guides i just left mine stock.

Personally I like the Jun, but from what I have been hearing the new Skunk cams will produce even more power than the Jun stage III's, but your idle will but hard to control. With Jun 3's the nice thing is that the idle is very close to stock even without tunning, which makes for a very nice street car. Of course you can probably tune out the idle problem in the Skunk's but it will take time and might not be as perfect. Also to comment on the power band of the Jun 3's, they produce tons of power all through out the band. And the torque is amazing as well. I got mine cause I got them cheap (used), even though I really wanted Toda Spec B's, but now I would never trade for Toda's, maybe for the Skunk's, but than again I don't care about the idle. Hope this helps out. You can checkout my profile for more on my setup.

Good luck

Was it worth the God awful amount of money for all the valvetrain stuff? Im trying to convince myself that it is but still.... 900 for a pair of cams?? sheesh...

Don't wine about the cost, I'm a broke white boy in college living off the government, I personally am going with the Toda B's, just because the company I'm dealing with speaks very highly of them(and I need the Torque)...the headwork for the valvetrain components is the real b!tch in doing higher lift cams, My setup alone with some electronic work and 90,000 mile maintanance is going to cost me $3500!!!...That's with used SPec B's. "So when you wanna make more power or go faster, its not just the size of you brain or engine, but mainly the size of your check book." So go all out when you do this build...you don't wanna have to tear it down again....
