valve guide?
When I adjust the valve clearance on my '90 Integra, the feeler gauge hits a bur on one of my exhaust valves. It's not bad, but I have to pay more attention. It doesn't make any extra noise running either.
What am I hitting. Is it on the valve guide? is that what strikes the adjuster stem? It's not the adjuster, but what is underneath it.
Thanks!

The valve guides are far below that area, I assure you you're not hitting the guide. You should be checking for clearance between the cam lobe and the rocker arm.. you shouldn't be down on the valvestem..
Post a picture with your feeler gauge.. u sure ur in the right area, because it doesn't sound like it

Probably so. I did it 2 wks ago, and it was only the 2nd time on this car....running perfect. None the less, one of the number 2 exhaust valves (or rocker) as a burr where you stick in the feeler gauge. It makes is hard to adjust that valve, but the .008 goes in and .009 doesn't. They all sound the same, so I think it went well.
