One of my valve cover nuts wont come off, or tighten down. I took the valve cover off to strip the paint. but now I want to paint it, but the bolt keeps on spinning and wont come off. What do I do to get the bastard off?

Can I replace the fubar bolt once the cover is off?

 

I am assuming that it is one of the outside valve cover bolts.
In any case, the stud that the nut is spinning on will need to be replaced, you can get them from the dealer for under $5.

how did you get the valve cover off? Is the stud still attached to the nut and valvecover? I am kinda confused now.

 

Pry it up w/ a screwdriver and unscrew it at the same time. Then go to the dealer and buy a new stud and nut
