Default Valve adjustments

I have just finished my engine rebuild and turbo install. My questions is, it is time for the valves to be adjusted and i was wondering how hard a task this is? It will be the first for me and just wanted to get some pros and cons of the job and if it is pretty much straight forward. Also were do u gauge from with the feeler gauge to get the proper measurement? I have heard a couple of different areas. Any help would be appreciated.
