Default Valve adjustment and power

I've adjusted my valves a few times but haven't experimented.

I've come across two schools of thought on this.

Tight clearance = good top end power (more lift/duration)
vs.
Tight clearance = good low end power

Any thoughts ?

I personally set the intakes to the tight side of spec (.006-.007, so .006) and the exaust I adjust to the loose side (.007-.008, so .008). The intakes valves don't get as hot as the exaust valves, so the looser adjustment on the exaust allows the valve to be closed for slightly longer (albiet, milliseconds) and this helps to dissipate heat from the valve to the seat.

I've never heard anything about making more power. I just adjust mine on the tighter end so they don't rattle or make noise.

Thanks, J

tighter (.004I/.005E) extends the power band.

Mine went from 6800 to 7100 rpm on a Z6.
