VAFC question
Hey just want some clarification on a few VAFC issues.
Say im tuning at 1. [Wide Throttle]
When it says LVt does this mean its for adjusting the fuel points on the low cam?
When you press next and it changes to HVt is this for adjusting the fuel points on the high cam?
But say VTEC is set to 5800rpm, why does the low cam settings go past 5800rpm? Because your settings on low cam that go past 5800rpm wont do **** because once it goes past 5800rpm it will switch to high cam settings.
Is it worth tuning at part throttle? Because I heard the o2 sensor will adjust to correct the mixture anyway. My car is OBD1 by the way.
Also my car is pinging at around 3000 to 5800rpm under WOT. I have tried to add a heap of fuel with the VAFC around this area but it doesnt seem to fix it. My base timing is set at 16deg and i'm running 91 octane. Is my timing too advanced? 16 deg is stock isnt it?
My mods include:
JDM Gen 2 B16a - 10.7:1 Compression
Stock cams
2 layer headgasket
Ported & polished head
Bored throttle body
Short ram intake
4-2-1 header
2.25" mandrel bent exhaust with N1 muffler.
VAFC
Any help would be awsome.
Thanks

For your motor 16 degrees is good, that is the factory setting.
You're correct about the VAFC, Hvt and Lvt...
Yes it is worth tuning at part throttle. You want to get your AFR as close to 14.7:1 as possible.
How bad are you pinging? Doesn't sound like you should be pinging at all...

Doesnt ping unless im doing some things with the throttle. Such as rolling along with 0% throttle then stab my foot then it will ping for a moment. Or when i am on the free way and i drop down a gear it pings from around 4000rpm to 5800rpm VTEC engagement. Could the pinging be result of my porting and polishing and the enlarged throttle body? But i have tried adding fuel to this area but it still pings. Maybe i need a FPR to bump up the fuel pressure because i heard VAFC sucks at adding fuel.
Why does the VAFC allow me to adjust above my VTEC point for my low cam LVt?
And why does it allow me to adjust below my VTEC point for HVt?
