Default VAFC problem

I just connected a VAFC in my car and the display isn't working. Anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks.

make sure the black, brown, red, and orange wires are hooked up properly.
The VAFC should light up with just those 4 connected. make sure you have the brown wire closer to the ecu as well.

I did that, only the buttons light up but the screen doesn't. The VAFC is used so not sure it even works. If the VAFC didn't power up, won't it throw codes for the wires that were bypassed?

That was what I was thinking because if power wasn't going through it, it would throw codes for the sensors that's wires I had to bypass. Thanks for the help.
