V2V Cam gear technicalities and degreeing.
So from reading I thought there was a common technicality even for oem stock that there was 3-4* separation between gears. So hopefully someone can clarify because I had just degreed my pro1's in on my built H22 NA and got +3 for both IN. and EX. IN centerline 98* EX centerline 105* but remembering these reads I thought that must have been wrong but then I started thinking if they are both +3 would that not be same as both being 0-0 and that would make for almost a stock V2V clearance I mean without all the extra lifts and everything, just hypothetically speaking and that would be good.
And If you were messing with them wouldnt the farther they get APART the closer you would be making them get together in unison? So tuning purposes might want your gears -1 IN and +4 EX but by doing this you would be increasing overlap and creating them both to be open at the same time getting them closer to each other? So its not that you want 3-4* separation for clearance purposes, its 3-4* separation is the farthest away from each other you want typically?
This is how I degreed found TDC, spun engine CCW until EX cam was .010" before max lift took note lets say 234* then kept spinning CCW until .010" after max lift for ex. 272* Then I put 272-234=38 38/2=19 Then I counted 19 from my last # 272* my degree wheel counts both ways so that would be 107* BTDC so my thinking was cam was advanced 2* anyways I kept doing this until I got 105* Is this correct?
