If you really want to know VTEC, kindly ask someone with a bad *** 2.0Vtec to give you a ride and punch it in 1st and you can hear the brrrrrrrrr go to BAAAAAHHHHH! You'll be hooked. I gurantee it.
Then if you are more serious about the technology you can buy a DOHC VTEC motor and pull of the valve cover to see 24 cam lobes that in essence act as six cams in the motor to make for a beast of a motor with good table manners.

time to cook some newbie.
vtec is a cam with multiple lobes per valve. so at a certan point the cam switches and it makes more power
those cars your friends beat with "v-tech" probably are slow and stock
come race someone with a swap, or a turbo swap and well see who beats who.

True about letting this post die but this is our house and you can't come here and be disrespectful.
I personally like anything that makes power it just happens to be the easiest with Hondas.

Ratty old turgo dodges kick ***!. I'm not kidding. I've owned several hondas including the GSR I have now. Back when I used to autocross a Neon I bought an ACR trans off of the guy who made that 12 sec caravan. His name is Cliff Sebring. The cars are junk reliablity wise but they can run kick *** times with minimal investment. Talk about a sleeper!

Only thing not so hot about it is the interior...

Blech. My roommate's '91 Voyager POS has the same steering wheel.
Still, they have been known to run mid-high 14's stock and can be made into very quick cars. Oh, and the motor is also in the '92 Daytona IROC R/T.
