Default v afc question

i am thinking about buying a d15b JDM and was wondering intead of goin through buying a p28 what if i used teh stock dx one with a v afc would vtec work or no????? i kno ill have to run wire for vtec and i think knock but was just curious if there is a way to do it like that with a v afc instead.

No, the VAFC doesn't actually control the VTEC funtion on the ECU, it modifies the signal going to and from the ECU. You would not be able to run a stock dx ECU with the VAFC due to the fact that the dx ECU doesn't have the ability to control VTEC.

Wow, if this is true, I did not know it. How do people run a z6 in a CRX and use the z6 ecu and a vafc to control vtec? I thought you could do that. Someone inform me if you cant.

i got a question and i dont want to repost, here it goes, sorry DRAG if i jacked u. if u had a 95gsr. would it be better to get a chipped ecu or safc. i guess what i want to know is what the reason people get both. can u change ur ecu setting from the safc?

well you wouldnt want a safc. Your car is vtec so you want a vafc so you could change fuel settings and vtec engagement point.
