Default Using a wideband for the ecu...

If you have a wideband in your car for tuning purposes - why not use it for your ecu as well? The Techedge o2 sensor controller has a narrow band output as well (<1.0v) so you can also use it for your ecu and LED style A/F gauge.

If you do not have a techedge, you can do it with any wideband by buying one of these: http://www.plxdevices.com/NB_WB_GaugeConv.htm for $40 shipped.

What about the o2 heater problem? Well you can keep the stock o2 sensor you have and keep it plugged in. Just add the wideband (with an additional bung) and use that unit for the o2 sensor wire in your ecu.

How does that sound? Any problems with it?

In hondata (mabe uberdata) you can set the closed loop "target a/f ratio" - doesn't that mean that with a wideband sensor, it could actually get the perfect a/f ratio for you by using the wideband?

People do this all the time..

Yes.. But it takes time for the ecu to adjust from where your fuel map is to where you want it to run with the closed loop feedback..

I had actually tried this a few nights ago with my Techedge 2.0 and AEM EMS unit.. If you setup your fuel map as close as you can and then run the closed loop operation all the time then it probably would work out fine.. I perfer to tune my fuel map and just use closed loop for crusing like the stock ecu does it..
