Default using kerosine to clean engine?

my friend told me to drain my oil. refill w/ 50-75% kerosine, kerosine oil mixture. idle for 20 minutes. drain and run cheap oil through to clean out kerosine. supposedly this will clean the engine very well. he did it on his probe gt. i have a del sol vtec. does this sound like a good idea? would it work? and potential problems? as far as i know his car runs great. he said it felt like new after he did this.

Have you taken off the valvecover to see if your engine is dirty? If you change your oil regularly then there should be no reason to flush your engine. There are a few things you can use if you "must" flush your engine that are safer.

option 1 - Use a good synthetic oil like mobil 1. Synthetics have natural cleaning abilities so use it for a couple changes or just make it your oil of choice.

option 2 - Use a diesel oil such as chevron delo or mobil delvac as diesel oils have very good detergent packages that will clean a gasoline engine very well. Use them for a couple oil changes.

option 3 - You can use a engine cleaner called autorx which is added to the oil and ran for 2000 miles. It is a very gentle cleaner and that is why you must run it for 2000 miles. I believe this to be the best and only method to "flush/Clean" an engine.

All of these options will leave you with a clean engine, but do you really need them?
