Default Using EX vtec solenoid on a b16.

Would you be losing any kind of power, or are there any drawbacks on using a vtec solenoid off of a EX on a b16 head? Thanks.

You aren't going to be loosing power... A VTEC solenoid is a VTEC solenoid... I've never done this personally so I don't really know if it bolts up... You probably know better than me... I checked http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and they show a different part number for the D series and B series VTEC solenoids... If it bolts up you should have no problems, but i just don't know.... Good Luck

it should work the only problem is that the harness might hit one of the plugs

Are EX solenoids the only ones where the oil pressure swith faces out towards the front of the car?

Yea i guess it would face foreward... You can see that will be different cuz on an EX motor with the VTEC solenoid being bolted on the back of the cylinder head the VTM sensor faces towards the passenger side of the car.... When you swing that around to the side of a DOHC VTEC motor it's now going to be facing foreward... Never thought about this before... here's a pic...

A buddy of mine is running a SOHC distributor and VTEC switch on his B16 swap. The car produces good horsepower numbers. He has a JDM B16 and is putting down 154 to the wheels, so I don't think you'll have any problems.

um
they are the EXACT SAME SOLENOID, the only diffrence is one of the plugs is in a diffrent location on the d16. but you will see no change from one to another.

Does anyone know if the Vtec solenoids off of 92-95 EX are different from those off of a 96-2000 EX? I have what I think is two EX vtec solenoids, but they are different.

Do the 92-95 and 96-2000 look the same though? or are the different?

Im using a 93 VX VTEC solenoid on my 96 JDM GSR engine. Works like a charm. VTEC pressure sensor plug is a little out of the way, but works none the less.

Nice info to know. I have a couple extra SOHC VTEC selonids sitting around. If I get a JDM swap I will be sure to use one.
