Default Using a computer in the car

I was cruising around and found this company's site: http://www.baumtools.com/english/index.cfm

If you scroll down to "ottoscan" there is a sweet thingee that makes your PDA an in car diagnostic computer. I got all excited cause i love that kind of ****, then i saw it was $350, which is wild. Is there anything like this for pdas or laptops that doesnt cost that much? I know hondata does this but i dont need any engine management stuff, i just want to be able to hook either my computer or palm up to the R and have cool **** show up on the screen

Any ideas?

well the main reason they make that "cool ****" is for engine managment. if all you want are pretty lines and numbers get the one for a PDA
hondata will rape your wallet.
