use or replace bolts?
im gonna be putting the head back on my b16 tomorrow and was wondering if it is really necessary to use new head bolts or studs??? i plan on reving to 9k and no higher for the time being...im guessing at these high operating speeds the extra strain put on these motors might be too much for the re used bolts....now im always getting mixed responses...a lot of guys tell me to change em and a lot tell me that they re-used them with no problems...even people who were boostin said they re-used...now i dont mind spending the extra money if i know its gonna save my *** in the long run...any one with firsthad experience please chime in....no hearsay as it tends to get me nowhere
might as well...anybody know any good places around 626 or 818...****** autolink sells em for 145 for a b16...i couldnt stop laughin when i heard that
Headbolts stretch when used which means that when you retorque them they're not holding as well as new ones. Replace them and save yourself the risk.
And what's done to the B16 that would justify revving to 9k rpm's?

thats impressive...but i know that the previous owner of the car had taken the head off before and put it back on...so i dont know if he overtorqued em and stretched em...id rather just get some arp studs... still anybody know off sum shops around here that got em for a decent price...how is camp1320??

BTW, you will pull the aluminum threads out of the block before you will stretch a head bolt. You can also warp the head from too much torque. Head bolts fine for allmotor, use studs for turbo.
