Are there any differences in P73 OBD2a & OBD2b ECU's? I know the plugs are different and the OBD2b has an immobilizer, but are there any differences in performance? Are the fuel maps, etc. the same?
The maps are the same, its just the immobilizer and plugs. But a word of caution, I have a few friends who work at Acura and say that the Type R ECU has a problem going bad. I just had a problem with my friends ECU going bad. It was reading a BARO code. The BARO sensor is INSIDE the ECU. Not very samrt, but it seems to me that, from my friends opinions from Acura, the only ECU to have this problem is the P73 ECU. I am not sure if this only applies to the OBD2b, or both OBD2a, and b. Also, the OBD2a and b will not fit any other car, except for the same years, i.e. 96-99 (OBD2a) and 99-01 (OBD2b). Yes, I know 99 is twice. I am under the impression that mid-year, it went to the OBD2b.
