They work put if you have a stereo or something that draws high current, I don't recommend it since your alternator is spinning to low to catch up on your electrical needs.

If you are going to buy a set, go with AEM better pulleys IMO

My friend had unorthodox pulleys on his car and the main pulley shattered on him.
So he bought AEM ones and hasn't had a problem yet.

You will not gain any horse power from a pully. You might replenish lost horsepower, very few. Pullies are used to produce more electric current to say the LEAST. If you have money to spend, and you're out of bolt-ons to install, then of course, I would say go for it. However, IMO I would rather spend the money on something that will show actual gains... Good luck!

You are absolutely wrong my friend... First off Unorthodox makes great pullies.

If your so sure that they won't make any power why don't you dyno your car with stock pullies and then dyno your car with a complete set of unorthodox race pullies.

You will notice up to 7hp to the wheels.

I would restate what w00t said. Though you are both correct in your own way.

Changing the pulleys will not make more horsepower, it will regain lost horsepower that the engine uses to turn the stock pulleys. The only mods that will actually make horsepower are those that change the internal dynamics of the engine. Anything that bolts on is just making use of the current potential of the engine that is taken up by larger or heavier parts.

i totally agree with ae86 on this one and i agree with rosebloodsol too but the simlple fact of the matter is that if you dyno with and without the pulleys you will see a horsepower difference. and one last thing AE86 , do you have any pics of the car?????

There are a lot a posts here dealing with semantics. The point of most mods is to gain wheel horspower! Period. Theoretically, you could increase crank HP but have no effect on WHP. Whether you freeing up crankshaft HP upgrading or creating new HP, the goal is to increase WHP (which is where the power can be seen).

exactly f23

This is what i wanted to say. it's obvious that pullies won't make hp, they will free up hp. Just like many other mods(flywheels, driveshafts(rwd of course), etc.

So basically then...
Pullies work? Or not?
Making horsepower, recovering horsepower... warping horsepower...

Will it make your car go faster than stock?
