Default unable to remove axle shaft

I am replacing both axle shaft halves but I am unable to remove the psg. side inner bearing housing from the tranny. I feel the spring ring pop in and out of its groove every time. I can push it back in but it hangs up again when I try to pry it out. It hangs up about a little under 1/2 in. out. Any trick or suggestion? Thanks

take out the side where it goes through the hub and rotor first, then when its free from there, pry it out of the tranny.did you drain you tranny fluid?(doesnt have to do with getting it out,but it will spill all over once you get it out)

The axle shaft itself is now out. The only thing left is the bearing housing in the tranny. I marked and cut the boot strapp to get it out of the way. The olny thing that I think I can do is to keep the bearing housing in place and put the new boot and boot strapp on when I reinstall the shaft???????????
