im getting a gsr shortblock from a friend of mine he says i might as well build it over and ive been thinking about type r pistons do they fit or do i have to bore the block to get them to fit and this is going in a gsr

They will fit fine unless you get the overbore ones which then you would
have to get the block bored.

Also consider that, while standard sized pistons MIGHT fit, they might not fit well. Chances are your block is not very fresh. And just trying to hone it will not correct such things as taper and out-of-round. Honing alone can even worsen things by increasing piston to cylinder clearance. Do yourself a favor, buy oversize pistons, and get the block bored. Alot of time, money, and effort goes into building an engine. Don't skimp by not doing something this important.
