Default Type R Intake Manifold

Installed on a first gen B16a and having problems with idle control. Been told I need a Type R idle control sensor.

Can someone tell me where I can buy one since I'm Puerto Rico and I think it is not a available in the US?

Thanks!
Raul

Yes, you'll need the IACV either from a 92-95 civic Si/EX, 96+ EX, or 94+ Integra LS. The bolt pattern on the 89-91 B16A IACV is too far apart...when it should be closer together as seen in this pic..

Hey thanks for the detailed reply! What does IACV stand for - Idle Air Control Valve?

Can you give more info? Is this not necessary? Why would you want to eliminate it?

Sorry, bad choice of words on my part. I'm bypassing mine...trying to elminate all the sources of hot coolant to my manifold. It will still be on the manifold, plugged in, just no coolant will be flowing through it.

No codes as long as it's plugged in. I live in warm Houston so I don't worry much about that or the throttle body getting coolant.

Thanks for the tips Steve.

yep same here.
Since I don't live in a cold climate zone (snowy place), I bypass the coolant going through the IACV also. I just have the sensor plugged into it...everything runs fine.

its easy..
you have 2 options.

1) you can try and reroute the coolant lines back to the coolant pipe that runs across the back of the block

or

2) completely plug off the coolant line. Put some kinda plug (bolt with hose clamp comes to mind), so coolant doesn't squirt/pour out of it.

Its not hard at all.....
just look at how the coolant lines are. They're all recirculating coolant with each other and the main line is the big coolant bar that runs across the back of the block.

hope this doesn't sound to confusing...lol.

I wrote a little how-to on a ITR IM install on a 1st gen. B16a. There's a link on there about TB coolant bypass as well. http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/asmsbm/r_iminstall.htm
