Type-R , clutch not engaging
It was a guy i was running a few minutes ago just outside my house. I came up behind him and saw black smoke coming out of the exhause, the next corner his clutch wouldn't engaged. I pulled over behind him...
No fluids dripping from under the hood, there was the black smoke, he said he thought he new he had blue smoke, but did'nt know about black. It was dark outside, could of been blue. Nothing looks perculiar under the hood.
Any suggestions? He's still out there outside the neighood now.

well if there had been a leak of some sort, oil/coolant, it could of drained down threw the transmission and flooded the clutch area...
if i have a good memory...
coolant will burn black?
oil will burn blue...
that in case is what the exhaust has to do with the clutch.

Coolant leak, like a blown head gasket, would be billowing out white smoke (like steam) but there really isn't anyway for anything to get down into the bellhousing to cause the clutch to slip like you say....
Sounds like he is just having several problems at once, could always get under the car and remove the steel plate to see if there is any clutch left...if chunks are sitting at the bottom of the bellhousing or not. Black smoke just means running rich while bluish white would be oil.
