Turbo leaking oil
Hey guys, here's the gouge: I have a T3/T4 turbo that I just bought, the oil return line that I put on was to small and I think that it caused oil to back up into the turbo so now I have a ton of white smoke. I know that it’s from the turbo because you can see it leaking from where the down pipe mates to the turbo. Now I know that the shaft is straight because the turbo is new so I'm going to attempt a rebuild myself. I'm completely mechanically clined, so I'm not worried about that, but what I am worried about is the balancing of the shaft, do I need to do this if I'm just changing the oil seal? (That is my main question). I haven’t run the turbo at all really, just a few revs up and down the street, nothing to hard. When a seal blows, does it just blow, or is it just blow-by and can be fixed with a larger line. WOW, that’s a lot of blows for one sentence. I was using rubber hose that wasn't really big inside, and now I'm switching to 10an which is a hell of a lot bigger then the hose I have on right now.
Oh, and something for the rest of you people out there with tech questions, if you ask a question about something and you fix your problem (whether from the posts or just your own genius) then POST THE F*%KING SOLUTION. I'm so tired of looking though the threads and finding people with the exact same problem as me to the "T" and I come to end of the thread and it says, "Figured it out" or the post just ends. This site is here for a reason and that is for everybody to learn about our cars, so help people out, and post the solution.
Thanks Guys
