turbo?
wut up ppl. ok i gotta 93 civic hb with a gsr motor. right now i got a intake, catback exhaust and header. the parts i have but havent installed yet r forged low comp pistons (8.5:1), forged rods, copper gasket, boost timing master by msd, wires, colder plugs, fuel pump regulator and engine management system by aem. these will all be taken to a shop to be installed dyno tuned when i make up my mind, sc or turbo. is an 8.5:1 comp low enough to run 14psi safely on this gsr motor? also the car will be daily driven and on pump gas so the boost will be set at around 4-7psi. will the b18c1 with these mods i listed be enough to protect my engine? the main reason i wanna go turbo is because i will have the ability to lower boost at any time with the turn of a ****. this means ill put a lot less stress on then engine, right? o yea will i have to worry about detonation at 14psi with all these mods? ive been to like 5 diff fourms and these r the only questions on my mind right now. thanks.
with the right tuning 14psi should be attainable. However, that depends on what gas you have, out here in az on crappy 91 and 110 degree days I wouldn't advise that much boost for the street. Oh, and go turbo, no sc. I have yet to see an sc setup that can run with a turbo or even all motor (at least with any reliability from the blower). The vortech seems promising but for the price you can piece together a sweet custom turbo kit.
