Hey all,
I am running an 01 ITR block w/GSR head on a basically 'stock honda' setup.
I have 16K on the motor running 10-40 amsoil syn and the motor is staying
strong. Currently on the stock HG w/arp head studs, GSR intake manifold and
TB, Intake w/4"to 3" plumbing before the box, sealed with the stock filter. Stock GSR cams @ 10.8:1 CR. Stock GSR header, 66K cat, GSR b-pipe and 98 ITR muffler. Stock 99 OBD2 ECU, 17.5 timing at 0,0 cams at .007, .008 lashes. The car
put down 159/121 on the dyno with 120/120 at 5252rpm. Quite different than
a stock GSR, or ITR for that matter. With some intake cam/seat of pants tuning the car has seen 14.8 @ 93.6 second time on comptech/stock GSR suspension, GSR tranny with A 'stock' clutch and ITR flywheel. Runs were made on 4/32 28psi
RE730s with most of the rubber in the front, 2-4/32s in rear. I feel even with the
2.27" 60' I can still clean it up a bit and run 14.5-14.8 w/o any mods. Now I am
not a huge drag enthusiast... I am just using the specs I have as an acceleration
standpoint from which to improve.
Long story short, with some minor tweaking and breaking it in I am sure the car
is just over 160/120 now for sake of argument 160/122 with 120 at 5252.
I want to make 15-17whp: GOAL
185peak whp on the current CR using the GSR VVIS manifold. I would like to
see 135 peak TQ on the 8100rpm rev limit. I am running ITR valvesprings and LMAs for ref.
I am thinking for basic power mods:
NGK wires/6-11plugs (have)
VAFC (need)
290cc prelude injectors (want)
Holley 255lph fuel pump (should do)
B&M fpr(have/not installed yet)
65mm overbored TB (need), port matched/tapered to ported VVIS manifold
Modified stock intake with K/N filter (need filter)
Comptech Header or DC sports stainless 4-2-1 street design (need)
Carsound Cat 2.25"
98 ITR cat back (have)
CTR intake cam (can get used in good used cond cheap...)
or used CTR/00-01 ITR pair (will bid for)
Skunk2 Cam Gears (have 1 installed, need another one)
I want to see 125 tq at 3K and 125 at 8Krpm with 130-135 peak at
6500rpm, I.E. relatively FLAT for NA car. This aids in acceleration considering
I still have the longer stock GSR tranny. I just want it to be streetable and yet still
have alot left to do down the road. I figure 185/130 would be a good place
to allow the engine to rest until I can open er up and raise compression, add
larger cams... etc. For now I only want to sink another say 1500 into the engine.
Any tips/pointers? I have no exp tuning air/fuel and I intend to have this done with
a reliable tech on a dyno for sure. I feel since the motor is a bit undercammed right now making the power it is, adding say 10+ more degrees at overlap would be nice... tuning the cams... getting the header and cat... letting her breathe feeding more A/F... I bet it would be lovely... Ideas? I am thinking soon... before the summer after I get new tires and brakes...
Thanks...

have you thought about a Hondata IM gasket? i have seen dynos on where the torque gains where up to 3 of tq
as for the rest, don't know much about integras, but yes, get a vafc or a hondata and all that you stated above, and tune that, then you will know what you need to improve or if those things where enough to make the kind of power you wanted.
Good luck

sweet, yea that stuff does well... the engine stayes real clean with it. I love when my friends that own ITRs drive my car. Getting props from the ITR crew on your GSR is fun. I'm looking forward to when its cornering a bit better on newer tires and a bit more power... new clutch JDM final gear... its gonna be awesome
thats some good advice... so I will make getting some kind of ECU tuning my first thing and see what we can pull out of it first, go from there. yes, I already have a HDIM gasket...
