Default Tuning Adj Cam Gears!

when adjusting the cam gears is it absolutley neccessary that the cams are at TDC? logic would say that it doesnt but ive heard people say u must have it at TDC. Anyone know for sure........???

tdc= top dead center
bdc= bottom dead center

I am not sure, I would think that it wouldn't have to be beacuse you will always have clearance but, maybe TDC is when the cam isn't going to be resting on any of the valves.

Edit: which would make it easier to adjust.....btw, intake +3 and exhaust -2, then go to the dyno and try different.
