Alright, I know nothing of transmissions and blew mine yesterday, I have a 94 del sol vtec with a stock b16a3 engine in it. The questions I had was this:

1. Does the car I have come with a Hydro or Cable transmission?

2. Whats my transmission code? (aka y1, s?....I dunno I have just heard those tossed around when talking about B series trannys)

3. Since I have a OBD1 car does the transmission have to be OBD1? or could I just use a 99-00 transmission without a problem...

 

your tranny is a hydro tranny.and any b series trans will work.i am not sure what yours is though.the gearing slightly differs between the v-tec trannys.not much though not enough to matter.

 

I just like the short gears because of drag racing....right now I am trying to track down a lsd b16 tranny...its hard enough finding one let alone a b16

it came with a 4.40 fd y21 and has the shortest 1st of all that i know.

 

How did you blow your tranny? What mods do you have? You don't have to use an OBDI tranny, but it has to be B-series and a hydro tranny, not cable.
