i currently have a 97 civic ex which is unfortunatley an automatic which just seemed to die on me. anytime i put into any gear it just winds up and starts grinding. so my question is would it smarter to just get the auto fixed or attempt to have it switched to 5 speed? if anyone knows about what the price might be for either it would be a huge help to me. thanks

I'm not real sure about how much a new auto tranny would be, but if you want to switch to a 5speed I think I've seen people do it for right around $1k.
