Default Tranny stop going in gear!?!? Help

Ok here is the question. I'm would like to pick up this GSR Hydro tranny that a buddy is selling for $75. He is not sure what is wrong with it. This transmission never had any symptoms before it just stopped working.

I know opening it up would tell alot but its still in the car and i don't know if the the drive nor taking it out is worth buying and fixing.

He told me that the tranny just flat out stopped working. He was driving one day and 3 gear just stop going in and then 1st, 2nd would not go in either. The gears never grinded prior to this incident.

All i would like to know is what do you think it could be?

I would buy it. Just the case is worth that. Not sure what could be wrong with it but it should still have some good parts in it.

I agree with both the above, buy it, pop it open and check it, as mentioned the case, if undamaged, is worth the $75. 94
