i got a gs-r lsd tranny i installed about 4 months ago. right now in first gear i let go of the clutch it sqeaks, with it in gear. have any of you guys experienced this or know what is wrong? i checked my clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder and its still shooting out fluid. also when i put the tranny in i had a brand new act 4 puck disc but a used act pressure plate.
Let me know if you get an answer. HAHA. I am sure someone knows the answer but... welcome to the world of not stock. One of my cars does the same thing. It has a quaife diff, jun flywheel, and a steel clutch. My other car has the same but 4puck instead of the steel clutch. Havent driven it enough to know if it squeeks too. But, I' be interested in the answer to this too!!
I just dropped a factory GSR tranny in the car and it still squeaks a little. I think my clutch is going out though. I am gonna have it checked out tomorrow. If they replace anything and the squeaking goes away, I'll let you know. I dont think it has to do with the tranny or the differential though.
Welcome to the world of cerametallic clutches. They often sqeal like a dying animal when they engage, especially if you have some nice burn marks on your flywheel or friction ring.
Your original post was kind of confusing, but my guess is that it's normal clutch squeal. My competition clutch 6-puck squealed so bad I finally ditched it in favor of a Clutch Specialties which doesn't have any squealing issues. Also, a resurfaced flywheel is a must if it's heavily glazed/burned. Did the pressure plate have a bunch of burn marks on it?
