B18C tranny.

No grinds, Shifts are smooth. No problems, But when I drained the tranny fluid (approx. 10k miles since last change) there was metal shavings on my magnet drain bolt. Fluid was not dirty either.

What is wearing? Now occasionly I here some knocking sounds coming from the tranny (not very loud but noticable that something is wrong) Sometimes I can stop the sound when I step on the clutch pedal, slide it into gear and than back to neutral, release the pedal.

 

maybe t.o. bearing? just a guess... how big are the shavings? are they little shavings or more like chunks? also make sure u have enough oil in the tranny

 

I dont think it is the Throw Out bearing making the noise.
The noise is still present if (with shift lever in neutral) I just step on the clutch and release it while not touching the shift lever.

To make the noise go away (with shift lever in neutral):
1. step on the clutch pedal
2. move shift lever to any gear
3. move shift lever back to neutral
4. Release clutch pedal

When I opened the fill hole, Tranny fluid trickled so I was not low. Shavings were little. Tranny fluid was not dirty (It shouldnt; last change was only 10k miles ago)
