I just bought an EF9 lastnight for really cheap, it runs and all but I think it has a serious tranny problem. It's an automatic and when I take off in first gear it wants to rev high and then the whole car vibrates before it changes into second. Any ideas? I'll be doing a cheap D15B vtec swap with a manual tranny soon, just wanted to know if this was something I could fix in the meantime.


EDIT: Today the car started shaking really bad when in gear. It does fine while it's idling but as soon as I put it in gear the whole car shakes like it's going to fall apart. Could this be motor mounts?

Forgot to mention that it downshifts really hard too, and when I put the pedal to the floor it doesn't really go anywhere

NOt too sure bout that but have you tried asking the person who you bought it from?

 

The guy I bought it from can barely speak english. I drove it before I bought it so I knew there was a definite problem and I talked him down to roughly 2/3 of what he was asking. I'll be doing a swap soon but if turns out to be something minor I could at least fix it and drive it until I get everything for the swap.

i have a similar problem, in my auto EG6... when it shifts into 3rd it hesitates for a moment and revs pretty high then shifts... I'm looking for answeres too so hopefully some one out there knows...
