Default tranny play

what causes a tranny to have so much play while you are shifting. when you have a brand new tranny everything is tight and slides right into gears. Now, it feels mushy and trying to downshift from 60 mph into 4th. it won't go in until it reaches 40 mph. wtf..any suggestions.

It seems like your shift linkage or motor mounts are bad. (A misalignment is occuring.)
