Default tranny going bad?

So i've always had a grind when shifting up to 3rd gear but it never bothered me. Recently i've been hearing a weird rotating noise, kinda like a helicopter, when driving and sometimes when stopped at a red light and idling i'd hear a weird clunking noise. Its a cable tranny in my 93 integra. My car still drives perfect, just making me uneasy with all the weird noises. Whats going on? Do i need a new trnsmission soon? i can get a used one on craigslist for around $300. would this be something that i can do by myself? also stupid question but do i need to pull the motor to swap trannies? btw its stock b18a1 if that helps. Thanks

Yes it's the tranny, not sure if you have to pull the engine on a G2, it is not required on a G3.

I pull mine once a year to replace the springs on the Phantom Grip LSD, no biggie, easy as pie with a hoist.

you don't have to pull the motor to take out the transmission on you 93 integra... it's not that hard but you should get a friend to help you...
