Default Tranny assembly

I was trying to put the case back on to my tranny today, and was unable to get the two halfes to back together properly. I am able to get the them to seal up but I cant get the snap ring to engauge in the groove of the bearing. The weird thing is that I didnt disassemble the tranny I just removed the cover to resilicone it. Upon further inspection I noticed that one of the stacks of gears seems to be sitting a little higher, like a quarter of an inch or less. The one that is sitting higher is the taller one of the two, I think that it could be the reason for the snap ring not engauging. I am afraid of just hammering the stack to get it to sit right so any onfo on how to fix this would be cool. Thanks

When trying to reseat the snap ring, expanding it and trying to push the halfs together will not get the snap ring seated all the way, IME.

Simply turn the tranny over (as the snap ring is now expanded while sitting on the bearing) and drop it from 1-2" - presto, seats like a champ.
