TPS Sensor
Hey, like it says, my tps sensor is mangled, and i need to apparently replace the throttle body because they cannot be seperated.
There must be a way to seperate the two, or a cheaper throttle body that fits, or something....
Has anyone dealt with this let me know of any other solutions!!
Thanks!

as for a replacment, im assuming this is a swap that the sensor is broken right? if it is you can take the one off your stock engine but you are gonna have to calibrate it.
i had this same problem when i did my b16 swap. a shop in texas did the install and calibration for 75$ plus shipping to them.

There was actually a thread pertaining to this topic a couple days ago.
The CBR954 TPS sensor is the same thing as our Civic/Teg TPS's. [Please find the thread to be sure of model #'s as I may have them mixed up. Another poster tried a 929 TPS, which looks like it'll work and fits, but the wiring orientation is opposite the 954's, meaning that at idle it will put out 4.5v instead of .45v]

Actually, i blew my first US motor, and sold it. My alarm siren fell off it its perch and wedged between the tps in my new engine and the firewall, and eventually the tps gave first. So i cant use my old one.
I found the thread, but i wonder if any USDM car tps will fit my JDM tps. I also read they are attached differently so will i be able to fit them together???
What do i have to do the 954 RR tps to get it to fit???
Thanks!

Both TPS are held on with bolts. The JDM TPS has torx bolt heads which allow easy removal/adjustment. The US uses shear bolts where the head of the bolt "shears" off of the shaft of the bolt at a predetermined torque value. They are harder since the remaining part of the bolt must be slotted with a grinder to allow you to remove it. You can replace any honda TPS with any other honda TPS, just make sure to calibrate it correctly.

this is getting a little bit weird now guys.... I called my honda MC dealer and they had no idea, and have no listing at all for a tps. So i figured maybe it has something to do with the US and canada thing, so i called a US honda MC dealer, and no # again. I asked him to give me a part # and then compared it to the canadian one, and they are the same so.....
There is no difference between and US and CDN part #s, and neither of these dealers can even find a part listing.... So i'm a little lost here...
A few of you guys have said you have bought it before, so if you could figure out the part # for me that would be great, or just simply tell me the name and location (city) of the MC dealer where you got it, I'll just call them and get the part # from the dealer.
Sorry for being a pest, but no one here can seem to get this to go..
Thanks again!

Just head over to a junkyard . . . . Every Honda/Acura built for the past 15 years uses the same TPS. You'll just have to dremel a slot in the top to fit a screwdriver in them, like Benny & WCI suggested.
Or it might be easier to just buy the entire throttle-body from the yard for a little more - then you've got a chance of getting a spare MAP sensor out of the deal (depending on the model).

I agree with you there, but with buying the new one from honda there is no chance to potentially wreck the tps, or maybe since its been at the junkers for so long purchasing a defective one. So i personally rather the security from getting a new one. or at least one from a source with less chance for error.
I just had the same thing happen. while we were dropping the engine ine the tps snagged on a bracket on the firewall and snapped it in 2. Went to a junkyard and pulled the throttle off another civic for $10 and done. Just remember you can't use the TPS off an older dx cuz while it looks the same its wired differently. (Or so I'm told - haven't tested this out.) Taking the bolts out is a breeze. Its just like they say in the posts above.
