Default TPS or O2 sensor rough idle?

my car idles from 500rpm to 3200rpms. I already changed the O2 sensor and checked for leaks. I unplugged the tps and the idles steady at 3000rpms and now I get a CEL 17. Should i double check the voltage on the o2 sensor because the original code was CEL 1. How do I do this and what should I expect?

if you have a 1, replace the o2 sensor. 17 is for the vss. get those fixed and go from there.

did you just do a swap? if so which one? also i would check out your tps sensor. it shouldnt really matter for the idle tho only if you are on the gas.....

if your TPS sensor has been moved around/tampered with, you'll get a check engine light for it or your car will idle like crap or both. If it has been tampered with, try to center the sensor ...it moves left to right...kinda like the distributor, if you center it, that should make the sensor work pretty normal.

the sensor is bolted in by rivets. the swap is an 89 jdm b16a i've had the swap for 2 months with no prob until one day i was playing catch up with another car. I still get a o2 cel code 1.

My GFs old CRX had the same code, I replaced the O2 sensor, same thing. To make a long story short, it turned out to be the battery. It didn't make a lot of sense to me, but just know that the code 1 doesn't mean that the O2 sensor is bad, it just means the ECU is seeing that the O2 sensor is not acting "normal". For example if the car is running really lean or rich and the O2 has to compensate a lot, it may throw a code, or if the O2 is getting bad voltage or ground.

No, get the battery tested. Most auto parts stores (PEp boys) will do this for free.

They will test thebattery for voltage and more importantly load.

I would think it could be all these things... Is your coolant full, is the FITV still good... When you set the TPS make sure it is at 0.45VDC with the throttle fully closed... Latez

PCV valve is either mounted in the intake manifold where the line come off the plenum and goes down to the block... Otherwise it could be mounted on the top of the PCV box (black box mounted to the block) directly under the manifold... They are the little plastic pieces that connect to the hose...... Sorry this is really poorly worded but hopefully you can figure it out.. If not then i'll put some pics up.. Good Luck
