Default TPS code draw timing?

If you throw the TPS code (forget the code off the top of my head), does it changing your timing and suck the power out of your car?

may not change timing but may produce a lean condition (stumbling/hesitation), because the computer does not recieve the right signal telling it to add fuel as the throttle opens. you should eventually recieve an o2 sensor code if i am correct. also the tps is the only link from you to the engine.
