Torque wrench
Hey guys i was looking at somethings today and started to wonder how do i use my torque wrench? In my Chiltons manual is says that some things need to be tightened in in/lbs but my torque wrench only reads in ft/lbs so i am figuring that you would set the wrench going by the fact that there are 12 inchs in 1 foot. Is this correct? If so then 108 in/lbs would be 9 ft/lbs, right?
right... when it gets that low your torque wrench prob isnt accurate at all, esp if you have a 1/2" drive with only ft/lbs as measurements. Im sure if you find a smaller torque wrench though it can be faily accurate. But for me, anything around 10ft/lb or less I just do it by feel and do it hand tight. More consistent this method imo.
I grabbed a 3/8 0-75lb needle t-wrench for my small things for like $15 and got the massive 1/2 25lb-250lb click t-wrench for the big stuff...I tell you what though, anything over 25 I use the click, hella lot more leverage, 132lb on the axle nut was cake *click click* done.
