Default Too much oil??

Hey guys, I've tried looking but couldn't find naything....
Will too much oil damage your engine?
I have a 95 GSR. Just went through a major engine overhaul
and we accidently put in 5 qt of oil in it...would that be a problem?
Should I take a qt out? Please let me know. I'll be travelling to FL soon
which will be more than 2000 miles drive for me so I want to make sure
I'm set before I head out....thanx guy

all that happens is your oil gets whipped and aeriated... and when the aeriated oil gets picked up you don't get the full potential of its lubricating ability....because its filled with air bubbles. (btw your crank whips the oil up) take some oil out...its not going to ******* kill you to put your car on stands for 10 minutes and drain a quart of oil. safe than sorry my friend

Too much oil will also destroy your cat and O2 sensor(s). The excess oil is thrown into your exhaust due to reason listed above, which clogs your car, and coats your 02 sensors.

It gets into the airbox via the crankcase breather.

Yeh it does. 5qts isnt gonna kill the motor but it'll eventualy use the extra oil. Happened in my b16a motor and it didnt increase the oil pressure too much. If ur motor burns any then keep the extra quart But yeh it's not a bad idea to take the extra oil out.

Would 4 quarts in a D16Y8 that hold 3.5 do any damage? It burns some oil, not sure how much but it does.

4 should be good but don't go over 4, then it'll start causing problems......

I think for my GSR, since its brand new engine, I'm keeping it at 5 until next weekend, I'll bring it down to 4qt......
