Default Tire Rotation - Why not this pattern?

With stock tires, they say to rotate front to back only. Why not go with a X pattern since the tires are NOT unidirectional?

I can understand some aftermarket performance tires are unidriectional and can NOT rotate in the X pattern (like my current tires). But what about tires with no directional pattern?

Thanks

Is that in the manual or did somebody tell you that?

Anyway, I've heard that before and the reasoning was that going in a x pattern could result in poor behavior if you tires are not wearing correctly. If you have a bit of negative camber (or positive, either way), the one side of your tire will wear and when you switch that tire to the other side, the resulting wear can become dangerous.

That's the only explanation I've ever heard for that outside of directional tires. Anybody else know any other reasons? The poor handling just doesn't seem to logical to me, it wouldn't account for most of the vehicles, just a minority.
