Default tire question

can anyone tell me if changing my tire size from a 195/55/15 to 205/55/15 will this change my speedometer or not.. and what do you all reccomend.. i need tires bad..
and i just got ripped off by tirerack. sent me s03's in 195/50/15 ..and they said they called me and told me they dont make them in my size, i needed 55's , when they never called me and they shipped them and i wont use them and they making me pay for the shipping...

yes it will the speedo would read low. You'll be going faster than you think. This is due to the larger circumfrence. Check with the tire mfg and see what the rotations per mile are the two series tires. The ration of these two values is how much the speedo will be off. To check it ride down the freeway at exactly 60 MPH it should take 60 seconds to travel one mile (by the mile posts). Use a friend to take the times between the mile posts. In some states the highway patrol will check your speed to verify your speedo.
