Default Tips, or reference to Engine assembly?

Are there any good sites, or tips on assembling my engine. I will be replacing pistons and rods and I know what to do, I am just looking for any tips to make sure it turns out the best possible way.
Thanks,
Craig

You can get great info here by searching and asking specific questions. Asking for any tips with replacing your_______ is a vague question. I'll give you a tip though, take the engine out. Hone the cylinders, get new rings, get new rod bearings, check the rod journals on the crank for wear, also check the main journals for wear, replace the main bearings and thrust bearings while you're there, check your clearances with plastigauge, put plastigauge only on one side of the bearing between the bearing and the crank, do not have oil on parts while checking clearances, do not rotate engine w/o oil, pre-oil everything before final assembly, make sure align the ring end gaps correctly, make sure the pistons are facing the right direction, use a ring compressor when installing the pistons, oil both the compressor and the piston, use a feeler gauge to check ring end gaps, make sure the spacer ring ends are not over lapping, take your time, oil rings before installing, check things more than once, torque verything to spec in the proper steps and in the proper order, ask someone on this board that lives near you who has done this to help you out, kick him/her a little cash, be careful who you listen to. Some people believe that if they have read it here in the past that they can post about it and say that this is the way you do something. NOT the case. Some people deal in quantity and not quality of posts ie beware of mis-information from people that ARE really trying to be helpful.
