timing question...anything bad possible here?
I did a stupid thing and after my rebuild i was in a hurry and set my timing so i had zero distributor advance---yes, i aligned my mark at 0 degrees on the camgear instead of the 16degree mark! don't make fun. ran sluggish as expected. anyway, i set it correct and all seems ok. can anything bad have happened? only ran about 10 miles like that.

I am not quite understainding what you mean? Are you saying that you had 0 degrees timing on the distributor and 0 degrees on the cam gear? Since it's a rebuild the way you should do it upon completion of assembly is distributor timing at 16 while cam gears are at 0.
well, what i mean is when i set my timing at idle i put the mark at tdc (0 deg) not the 16 deg mark. stupid i know. anyway, could anything bad have happened with valves hitting pistons? i never revved above 4000 rpm
I wouldn't worry about your valves hitting your cylinders. All you did was retard your ignition timing so that your spark was igniting at tdc instead of 16 deg before tdc, probably resulting in incomplete combustion. You said you only ran it for about 10 miles like that, so I wouldn't worry. And I bet "sluggish" was an understatement.
