Default Timing Problem.. possibly??

Ok here's the problem. We've been putting together a turbo kit for the past year and we also needed a new distributor because it was busted up in the accident. The car has not been started in over a year. Now the car will not start, it turns over but does not sputter or anything. The distributor can be put in either one way or exactly 180 degrees the other way. We manually cranked the engine until cyl #1 was at the top. We then made sure that the distributor rotor was on the #1 spark plug and cranked. We have fuel and spark. Any ideas? Could we be 180 degrees out of wack? Why won't it start?!?!:? Please help, I've been troubleshooting all day. thanks!

Distributor keyway is asymmetrical. Only goes on one way. You'd really have to pound it in there for it go on the wrong way.

Make sure that the rotor position and crank position correspond. If cylinder #1 is at TDC, set the distributor so that the rotor faces towards the #1 cylinder firing position.....down, and facing towards the bottom (if you're looking from the passenger-side fenderwell). See other post in Tech for the pic of #1 rotor positioning...pretty recent posting.

Sensor # = 6 IN /6 OUT
Cylinder # = 4
Thr = going up

Check your harnesses on the distributor...maybe swap ignitor with the old one.

that is exactly what we did.. set the crank so that #1 piston was up.. at TDC.. and rotor was at #1 also.. facing in the car direction.. still nothing
