Timing issues
I just got done doing an ls/vtec swap and for some reason I can't seem to get the timing right. The timing gear is lined up with the notch on the oil pump and the 2 lines on the cam gears I lined up the center of the tooth with the mark on it with the edge of the head. I'm missing the upper inner timing cover so I used the head instead thinking they are the same.
When I check the timing with the connecter jumped I have to fully advance the timing and the first timing mark on the crank pulley doesn't line up with the mark on the cover. Its close but still idles like its camed and I'm only pullen 15" of vaccum. Any ideas?

pull the #1 spark plug out and get a 3/8 '' long extension and drop it in the #1 piston hole. watch it go all the way up and top out . you are at tdc. if that don`t work check your crank angle sensor wire is crossed up with another wire on the distributor . mine was swapped with the tdc wire and it ran close to that same way
