So i have an issue with this B16 swapped EF that I bought. The dizzy had previously had the ear cut open and pulled as far as it can to get it to time up. I was thinking it was just a faulty dizzy and some dumbass was to poor to buy a new one and it would throw a 9 code sometimes. So got a new one in today and installed it and its the same as if i placed the other in the stock location. Now i'm confused, could i have a timing gear issue? Tooth off or something? Ideas would be great.

 

First thing to do would be to get your hands on a timing light and actually check.

 

i have, it doesn't time up unless i have the old dizzy on and pull it past the ear location.

 

could it be a issue with the wiring to the dizzy? pinned incorrect?

 

recheck mechanical timing,
