Default Timing Belt Tensioner

I have a 1990 Honda CRX with a Mini-Me swap. While driving still in the break-in period, the car made a weird sreatching noise and shut off. I tried to turn the car back on when it fully stopped and it only cranked no fire. I have spark, fuel, fuel pressure and everything seemed fine. Checked the timing and it was off like CRAZY. When i adjusted to the correct timing the belt was loose on one side. Now the car is in time and still no fire. I am thinkin that because it jumped time SO bad that it bent a couple vavles. Pretty sure that is what happened. Now for the second question. Do you think it could be my timing belt tensioner?? If so, how did this go bad.
