im in the process of changing the timing belt on my ls/vtec. i bought the motor already puttogether and the kid i bought it from said it has a LS belt on it, so thats what i bought. but it wont fit, and the belt that i took off of it has 126 teeth and the LS belt has 125 teeth. is it a GSR belt, or a B16. please help fast! thank you

 

take that belt back and get the other one...do you want people to go and count how many teeth are on there timing belts?..lol

i didnt want anyone to count i just thought that somebody would know...ive heard people say that the mini me motor needs a 106 tooth belt, so i thought someone would know but i guess not. i know theres a difference between the B16 and LS belts and what other way is there to tell them apart when the part number has worn off the belt??

Looks like places like Autozone list the number of teeth (and length and width) for timing belts as well. You might be able to match part numbers too.

 

I know the number of teeth, I have the correct belt but its as if it shrunk.

I usually see belts stretch not shrink, anyone experience this?

 

Did you get a b16 belt? That would be too short. You need a gsr belt and 22tooth water pump.

 

Measure it out. Autozone (and probably other sites) lists length and width as well.

 

No I have a ls pump and belt, I don't need to switch them
