Try using the Moroso crankpulley removal tool. Works like a charm and only costs like 60 bucks(can get from SnapOn too).

Yes you do have to remove the crank pully to get the timing cover off... No do not cut it off. Try the hex shaped specialty tool by Sir Tool to hold the pully as you torque on the crank shaft pully bolt... or better yet go get an impact wrench, Dewalt makes a fine one for about $169.00 US. Lube up the bold threads with liquid wrench or WD40... Some kind of penetrating lube. Let it sit overnight. Then crack a beer and go back to it as many times as it taks untill it comes off. It will come off. That bolt is the single most highly torqued bolt on your car. You will need to torque it to aprox. 150 ft/lbs to reinstall so the hex shaped tool by Sir Tool will be needed for this. I just finished this job so let me know if you have more questions.

The torque on the Crank pully bolt is supposed to be 87 Ft lbs for B16a.

I thought the crank bolt should be like 130-140 ft lbs. also? Also you don't need the hex tool to torque it back up, just get someone to hold the flywheel with a big a$$ flathead while u torque it.

It's going to require probably 300+ft lbs to remove that bolt...my axle nuts wouldn't come off w/ 350 ft lbs on a heavy duty impact wrench and they are torqued about the same as the crank pulley. Good thing I had a buddy w/ a 2.5' 3/4" drive breaker bar

yeah, sorry, i was quoting from a Honda Factory service manual for the B16A2 of the Del Sol.

which is 130ft/lbs.
------------
so as whoever owns that site is breaking every copyright law in the world by having those manuals on-line, i would suggest that you are very very careful where you post the links for them.

this is Honda-Tech.com - an entity that i respect and admire.

you put this site at risk by posting links to copy-righted works.

i know other people do it, but man, that site claims to have ENTIRE service manuals for DOWNLOAD!!!!

that is a pretty serious criminal offence in some countries...

t..

PS if it is YOUR site, you should be worried...
